Safety

Oman is considered one of the safest countries in the Middle East, with low crime rates and a friendly, respectful culture. Solo female travel is common and generally trouble-free.

Visa

Most travellers can apply for an easy eVisa online. Requirements are straightforward and approvals are typically quick. Check if your nationality qualifies for visa-on-arrival.

Transport

The best way to explore Oman is by renting a car — roads are excellent and distances long. In Muscat, taxis and apps like OTaxi work well. Domestic flights connect Muscat and Salalah.

Connectivity

Tourist SIM cards are available at the airport (Omantel, Ooredoo). Coverage is excellent in cities and good on main highways, weaker in remote mountain or desert areas.

Daily travel expenses

Expect to spend $120–200 per person per day, including comfortable hotels, meals and car rental. Oman is not cheap, especially in high season. Cards are widely accepted, but carrying some OMR helps in small shops and rural areas.
